Job Description
The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is looking for a dedicated Associate Economic Affairs Officer to join our team and support the mission of promoting shared economic prosperity across 21 Arab countries. In this role, you’ll analyze global trade data, assist in technical cooperation projects, and contribute to impactful trade policies, all while collaborating with a diverse team. We’re seeking someone with a background in economics who thrives on analyzing data, solving problems, and communicating effectively. At least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in economic research and analysis, with a focus on international trade is required. No experience is required for candidates who have passed the United Nations Young Professionals Programme (YPP) Examination, the United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P). At least two (2) years of experience in using large international trade databases (COMTRADE, TiVA, TradeMap, GTAP) is desirable. At least two (2) years of experience using STATA or GAMS for modeling and analysis of international trade is desirable. Knowledge of Payton for potential application on GAMS API is desirable.
