Resident Coordinator (Costa Rica)
Job Description
The Resident Coordinator will serve as the leading representative of the United Nations development system in the country, responsible for coordinating all UN efforts to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This role involves fostering collaboration with government entities, civil society, and various stakeholders to address national priorities and sustainable development challenges. The Resident Coordinator leads the UN country team, manages the implementation of the UN Cooperation Framework, and ensures effective communication and engagement across diverse partnerships. With a strong focus on human rights, gender equality, and innovative solutions for sustainable development, the Resident Coordinator will drive collective efforts to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while promoting an inclusive environment that benefits all. šš¤āØ The start date of this position is February 2026, unless the incumbent is reassigned before that date. Should the incumbent leave earlier, the selected candidate will be required to deploy within three (3) months of receipt of notification. According to the ICSC classification, San Jose is currently classified as an A duty station, rated on a scale that assesses the difficulty of working and living conditions from A to E, with A being the least and E, the most difficult. The duration of assignment for A duty stations is of 5 years. The tour of duty length may change if the hardship classification of the duty station changes. Eligibility for this position is limited to candidates who are members of the Resident Coordinator Pool. Resident Coordinators can apply for this post if by the post’s indicated start date they have one year or less of service remaining in their current duty station.
