Job Description

We are looking for an Expert for our Sanctions Committee at the United Nations 🌐. In this role, you’ll be conducting research πŸ“š, analyzing data πŸ“ˆ, and delivering concise information πŸ“ within the framework of our mandate, guided by United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The location for this role is flexible, as the UN operates in various locations worldwide 🌍. The duration will depend on the decisions of the United Nations Security Council and the availability of funds πŸ’°.

Your primary tasks? Monitor sanctions 🚫, investigate alleged violations πŸ‘€, compile crucial reports πŸ“„, and prepare recommendations for sanctions implementation. You’ll be our point-person, liaising closely with regional or international organizations, and the United Nations system.

This role will require you to utilize media, including social media, as part of your monitoring duties πŸ“‘, as well as help build capacity among states and organizations to implement sanctions regimes more effectively.

Evidence-based and rigorous reporting will be a centerpiece of your work, with a high standard and methodical approach being crucial. You’ll also be engaging with Member States, entities, and individuals, providing them an opportunity to respond to any findings or allegations.

Academic qualifications? We’re looking for individuals with an advanced university degree πŸŽ“ in a relevant field and at least ten years of related experience. Fluency in English is required, with an excellent command over additional UN languages potentially serving as a significant advantage.
