Expert – Climate Change Adaptation
Job Description
**Result of Service**: We are seeking a meaningful contributor to support the Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) process focused on climate change adaptation in the Water and AFOLU sectors. As a national contractor, you will work under the guidance of the TNA Coordinator, providing part-time technical services to assess technology needs in Azerbaijan. Key deliverables include a portfolio of prioritized technologies, TNA and Barrier Analysis and Enabling Framework reports, and a Technology Action Plan outlining project ideas. Your role involves organizing stakeholder meetings, facilitating group discussions, and collaborating with national teams to ensure successful outputs. Also, you will travel for field visits and training workshops as necessary. 🌍💧
**Work Location**: Baku, Azerbaijan
**Expected Duration**: 20 months
**Duties and Responsibilities**: As part of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), you will help implement peacebuilding and development projects worldwide. Your focus will be on supporting the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre’s initiatives. This includes the identification, prioritization, and diffusion of effective technologies for climate adaptation, with an emphasis on engaging stakeholders. You will prepare various reports and action plans, analyze barriers to technology deployment, and facilitate events for policy dissemination. Your contributions will have a tangible impact on climate resilience strategies in Azerbaijan. 🌱
**Qualifications/Special Skills**: Candidates should hold a postgraduate degree in environmental management or a related climate field, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in the Water and AFOLU sectors, ideally within Azerbaijan.
**Languages**: Fluency in English is a must, while proficiency in Russian is a plus.
